Ramadan: President Buhari Calls On Muslims To Embrace Peace
Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari
The Muslim month of Ramadan has officially begun this Thursday with the sighting of the moon on Wednesday evening.
It is a month long annual religion exercise where Muslim faithful fast and pray.
The spiritual leader and head of the Islamic community in Nigeria, Sultan Abubakar III at exactly 9.45 pm Nigerian time on Wednesday proclaimed the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan.
As Muslim faithful begin their Ramadan fast, President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to those who use Islam to perpetuate violence all over the world to desist from tarnishing the image of the religion.
In a message by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu to mark the beginning of Ramadan, President Buhari said he is appealing to misguided brothers to drop their arms, embrace peace and seek a better understanding of Islam during this holy month.
He called on Nigerians to pray for the return of peace, love and prosperity in the country.
President Buhari implored Muslims to seek maximum benefits from the Ramadan period by being helpful to everyone they come across.
