A key suspect in the kidnapping of Mike Ozekhome a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Frank Azuekor has told a Federal High Court that he collected N28 million as ransom from the Ozekhome family before they released him

At the resumed trial on Tuesday, the Department of State Services produced video footage to prove that the confessional statements of the suspects were voluntary.

In the film clip, Frank Azuekor narrated how the gang of seven members ambushed Ozkehome’s vehicle along Auchi road in Edo state on August 23, 2013.

Azuekor also revealed that he got the sum of N4.1 million as his share of the ransom out of the N28 million collected.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola adjourned the case till July 8 and 9 to enable defence counsels cross examine the witness on the video evidence.

Kelvin Oniarah Ezeigbe, Frank Azuekor, Michael Omonigho and Momoh Haruna were arraigned on 13 count charges of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and acts of terrorism in 2013.

Their counsel Bala Dakum however, objected to the admissibility of the confessional statements purportedly made to the Department of State Services (DSS) on the grounds that they were not voluntary.

Also on Tuesday the trial within trial of Aminu Ogwuche,the alleged mastermind of the 2014 Nyanya bus terminal bombing and five others continued before the Federal High Court Abuja .

The prosecution witness, an investigator from the State Security Service informed the court how the first and third accused persons voluntarily made their statements in relation to the bombing.

The witness who was cross-examined by the prosecution counsel, Mohammed Diri disclosed that Ogwuche filled two separate statement sheets between July 30 and August 5 in English while the third accused person made his own statement in Hausa.

Justice Mohammed adjourned till June 17 2015 for continuation of hearing.
