Speaking on his nomination, the 26-year-old revealed that winning the award would be a dream come true for him.

“It would be great to win an award and be the best in Africa. It would mean a lot to me,” Moses told Chelsea official website.

It is something I would keep for the rest of my life, and it would be like a dream come true. We will see the outcome!

Moses makes the final five follow his exploits for Chelsea where he won the Premier League in the year under review.

The Chelsea wing-back believes he was nominated because of the vital role he played in their Premier League win

Moses was an influential part of Antonio Conte’s team that won the 2017 Premier League title, making 22 consecutive Premier League starts from September 2016 to April 2017. 28 starts and 33 league appearances in total last season.

I must have done well! I have worked so hard to be among the nominees and I guess they saw that ” he also said.

“I played a vital part in our league win, and I am pleased with the way things have been going recently.”

He is the Nigerian player with the most Premier League appearances for a title-winning team ever.

Moses also helped Nigeria seal qualification to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the former Wigan player is happy with his consistent performances for the Super Eagles.

A couple of years ago I didn’t play enough games for Nigeria because of injury, but this year has been an amazing year,” Moses added.

“In the first game in the World Cup qualifiers against Algeria, I scored twice which was very good, and helped us get the three points.

“I’ve been playing further forward for Nigeria, in my natural position. I like to take the ball and attack defenders, but defensively I help out my full-back, too.

“It’s been a wonderful year, and now we have qualified for the World Cup. We have made the whole nation proud of us and that’s what we wanted to do.

“We’ve got an exciting team with some good young players. Come Russia, we will be ready to go.

The BBC will announce the award winner on Monday, December 11.
