Abdul Maikaba: NFF appoint Akwa United boss as coach of Golden Eaglets
Maikaba will continue in his positions at Akwa United which he will combine with the U -17 side.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have appointed Akwa United boss Abdul Maikaba as coach of Nigeria’s U-17, the Golden Eaglets.
Miakaba has impressed since he took over at Akwa United in November 2016. In his first season at the Uyo-based club, he led them to Federation Cup title.
He will lead the technical crew of the Golden Eaglets which comprises of Niger Tornadoes' Abubakar Bala as First Assistant Coach, Oluwafunsho Bunmi Haruna a Second Assistant Coach and Baruwa Abideen as Goalkeepers’ Trainee.
These coaches will continue in their positions at their respective clubs which they will combine with the U -17 side.
Maikaba’s target will be to get Nigeria back to the FIFA U-2017 World Cup after they failed to qualify for the recently concluded 2017 edition.
Nigeria have won the competition five times- in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013 and 2015.
