Parents and guardians have been urged to keep their children and wards warm during cold weather to avoid convulsion and other cold related illnesses. A retired health officer, Mrs Abosede Gboyega, gave the advice on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Oye, Ekiti State. Gboyega decried the careless attitude of some mothers about the wellbeing of their young ones during cold weather. She urged them to always wear thick clothes for their babies and ensure that the children ate warm food as breakfast. “It makes me sad seeing children going to school in light school uniform without sweaters or thick clothes to protect them against this cold weather. “Some parents do not even care of what their children eat, they should rise up to their responsibility and take care of these gifts from God,“ she stressed. Gboyega further called on all primary school heads to provide conducive atmosphere for learning during the cold weather. She tasked the school managements on proper monitoring of their pupils during school hours and take proactive action whenever they suspect signs of sickness on any of the pupils.
