Born on the 1st of January, 1979 as a second child in a family of five at Edo State, Nigeria, Mercy Aigbe schooled at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she had her OND in Financial Studies, went on to the University of Lagos in 2001 for a degree in Theater Arts.
Mercy Aigbe kicked off her acting career by starring in some soap operas including the popular T.V drama series "Papa Ajasco" before taking up some roles in the Yoruba movie industry. She later found her calling in that industry where has remained and become a force to reckon with.
Her fashion style is top notch as she is seen as one of the most well-dressed celebrities in the country. Back in 2016, the dress she wore to the AMVCA was the talk of the town for a long time, its social media buzz was quite noticeable.
Mercy Aigbe is married to the businessman, Lanre Gentry. However, she is presently separated from him because of accusations of domestic violence and infidelity. They have a child together.
Over the years Mercy Aigbe has been nominated and won some awards for her acting prowess including Best Indigenous Language (Yoruba) (2014), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Yoruba) (2010), Best Actress in an Indigenous Movie Nomination (non-English speaking language) (2012), City People Entertainment Yoruba Movie Personality of the year (2015), Fashion Entrepreneur of The Year Awarded by Links and Glitz World Awards (2015).
