Rohr warns his players not to be carried away with the 4-2 win over Argentina.

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has warned his players to remain humble after their 4-2 win over Argentina in a friendly game on Tuesday, November 14.

The Super Eagles recovered from two goals down to seal a thrilling win over star-studded Argentina at the Krasnodar Stadium in Russia.

Rohr is very pleased with the way his men bounced back from two goals down to get the win but warned the players not to allow the game to get to their heads.

I am happy we came back from two goals down to win 4-2. It shows we have great team spirit and determination when you keep fighting after going two goals down against a great team like Argentina,” Rohr is quoted to say by the Twitter account of the Super Eagles.

It’s good victory for us but it doesn’t mean we’ve become favourites to win the World Cup. We must stay humble and realize we have more work to do.”

Rohr for the first time in his Super Eagles career set up his team in a 3-5-2 formation but the three-man defence could not stop the Argentines from racing to a 2-0 lead.

Ever Banega scored first from a freekick in the 25th minute before Sergio Aguero netted 10 minutes later to double Argentina’s lead.

Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for the Super Eagles before halftime while Alex Iwobi’s brace and a goal from Bryan Idowu sealed the win.

We prepared well for this game because playing Argentina is big for us, maybe it is different for them,” Rohr added.

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi admitted that they struggled with the new 3-5-2 formation in the first half.

We played a new system today we never played before so we struggled to find our feet in the first half but at the break, the coach spoke to us and we corrected our mistakes which helped us to fight back," Mikel said.

Our team is still work in progress.”

Russia 2018 will be Nigeria’s sixth FIFA World Cup tournaments.
