Uzoho Francis: Super Eagles boss Rohr calls up Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper for Algeria, Argentina games
Deportivo La Coruna's Uzoho just became the youngest foreign goalkeeper to make his La Liga debut.
Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Uzoho Francis has been called up to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the games against Algeria and Argentina.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Friday, November 10 make the trip to Algiers for the dead-rubber 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Nigeria will then take on Argentina in a friendly game at the Krasnodar Stadium, Krasnodar in Russia on Tuesday, November 14.
Ahead of the games, Uzoho who just made his La Liga debut for Deportivo La Coruna has been handed a call-up.
He has two La Liga games so far this season.
Deportivo La Coruna have confirmed his call-up via a statement on their website which revealed that the 19-year-old will join the Super Eagles camp in Morocco on Monday, November 6.
It’s been a fantastic couple of weeks for the goalkeeper who made his debut for Deportivo La Coruna in their goalless draw away at Eibar on Sunday, October 15.
He made history in that game as the youngest foreign goalkeeper to debut in the La Liga.
Uzoho’s professional football career came to prominence when he was included in the Golden Eaglets squad for the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Uzoho, however, did not play in any game at the World Cup and was Golden Eaglets third goalkeeper at the tournament.
He only made the cut following the injury to Adeyinka Adewale who was the first choice when Nigeria finished second at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) earlier in the year.
