It's United OR nothing - Sergio Ramos
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon recently confirmed that Sergio Ramos has informed the club of his desire to leave and that he will only join Manchester United.
In an interview with the BBC, Calderon was candid about the Sergio Ramos saga and gave insight into the status of the negotiations between Real Madrid and Manchester United.
“I know Sergio has told the general manager to listen to offers they get from Manchester United. He only wants to go to United.”
Calderon went on to add that the relationship between Ramos and Real Madrid has deteriorated to the point where the damage is irreparable and that his desire to leave Real Madrid for United is not a ploy to improve his recently salary demands.
“Things are in a very bad situation. As time has gone on, things have not only not improved, they have got worse. Now it is not a question of money. It is a lack of affection the player is feeling from Real Madrid.”
Calderon did state that should the transfers for Ramos and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea not go through in the coming week, they both have contracts with their respective clubs and are obligated to report for pre-season training next week, as well as go on their pre-season tours of Asia and the United States.
“They have contracts so they can’t say they won’t go, unless they have a good reason, like an injury. It is like a game of poker, with David De Gea in the middle.”
De Gea is expected to report to Manchester United next Monday, while Ramos will do so, with Real Madrid, shortly thereafter.
