Economic Crisis: Governors Hold Emergency Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo And Some Present State Governors

Nigerian governors are worried about the high debt burden in some states of the federation and that was the main issue discussed at their meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters after the six-hour meeting, the governors said the situation may ground the national economy, adding that they have scheduled an emergency meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari over the issue with the hope that the meeting will bring about an enduring solution to the problem.

The meeting had twenty governors and some deputies in attendance.
